ORANGE —
Two women used distraction as a way to lure a local store clerk away while one of the women stole items from behind the counter.
The Orange Police Department reported a store clerk who works at the Texas Country Store on Interstate 10 reported the robbery shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday.
One of the females distracted the clerk by complaining about the restroom which took the clerk away from the counter, according to a press release.
This gave the other woman a chance to get behind the counter and take cash, lottery tickets and cigarettes. The women were able to leave the store and escape in a vehicle.
Orange officers located the women and one was arrested on unrelated warrants. OPD reported the investigation is still ongoing and warrants will be obtained at a later date for both females for the offense of theft.
The items stolen from the store have not been recovered.
