The incident occurred at approximately 8 a.m., Tuesday when the Union Pacific train, which was traveling east on the tracks, struck the trailer which was carrying heavy equipment.
According to information provided by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the driver of the vehicle, Jimmy Roberson of Livingston, Texas, remained inside the truck while his passengers, Grant and 19-year-old Andrew Cain of Beaumont, exited the truck to determine why the trailer was “lodged” on tracks at the railroad crossing.
Roberson, 42, was transported by medical helicopter to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with unspecified injuries. Cain was not injured.
