Vidor approves architect for new City Hall project
VIDOR — Vidor council members addressed several matters of city business, including approval of a contract with an architect for a new City Hall project, during Tuesday’s meeting.
Council members agreed to approve a contract between the City of Vidor and Randall Scott Architects, Inc. for the new Vidor City Hall.
“Really, this was a formal vote to accept his contract,” said Mayor Joe Hopkins. “There are a few small changes which council wanted to make, but the architect said he had no problems with those changes and council agreed to approve it. It is just a matter of getting the paperwork worked out now.”
In other news, council members approved an ordinance declaring and establishing amended boundaries between Ward 1 and Ward 2.
An apartment complex under construction on State Highway 12 in Vidor has found itself splitting the two Wards, so the owner of the complex has asked council to amend the boundary lines to place the complex in one Ward or the other.
According to Rhonda Haskins, city secretary, the new apartment complex will be placed in Ward 1 under Council member Don Eicher.
Council members also approved an expenditure in the amount of $25,000 to allow the street department to purchase a side rotary mower attachment.
Haskins said the city has identified what type of attachment is needed for its mower, but will continue to search for the best deal before making the purchase final.
The City of Vidor also approved a resolution which allow the city to combine efforts with other area incorporated cities in denying Entergy’s request for a rate increase.
