Local author Beasley realizes her dream through words
By Alana Ingram

Cheryl Beasley believes that the only thing limiting her is the size of the hope she carries in her heart.
Beasley’s parents, Georgia Beasley and the late Edward Beasley, Jr., instilled in her a strong foundation of faith in herself, her abilities and her God. She feels that it is this foundation that has allowed her to grow, and recently achieve a notable goal.
Beasley is now a published author.
Written under the name Elerya, Beasley’s book, “Piano Paradise: My Piano has a Big Secret” became available earlier in February through online booksellers such as Barnes and Noble.com and Amazon.com.
Born in Orange, Beasley graduated from West Orange-Stark High School in 1996, and still calls Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist her home church.
Concern over the messages that children receive through Internet and television motivated Beasley to write.
“Children like to stretch their imagination and love creativity,” Beasley said. “I use that and tie it in with simple lessons that a child can understand.”
Beasley wants her books to help children face issues they may have, but don’t feel comfortable talking to adults about.
“Piano Paradise” is the story of Chanelle, a little girl with a large imagination and a love for music. When her interest in the piano is awakened, she discovers a hidden secret that her piano possesses, and then her adventures begin. Chanelle goes on a journey that helps her discover good things within herself.
Beasley hopes to share some life truths while encouraging children to take different journeys through their imaginations.
After graduating WO-S, Beasley graduated from Prairie View A&M; with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and is currently employeed at Spirit Aerosystems in Wichita, KS.
