The Orange County Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo wrapped up last Saturday night, leaving behind a lengthy trail of winners.
A popular contest, calf dressing, caused not only plenty of laughs but also a tie for first place on Saturday night. Chance Cunningham, Mike Manley and Jeremy Tidwell of the Orange County Ambulance Service Alumni team and Rodney Barnette, Dustin Foxworth and Brandon Ryan, members of the Orangefield Ag team tied for Saturday’s plaque. The OCAS Alumni team let Orangefield Ag keep the plaque, as they already had one of their own. Cunningham, Manley and teammate Amy Murdock captured first place in calf dressing on Friday night, as well.
Aside from the regular events, rodeo patron Dana Bryant of Nederland won the smoker donated by Cecil Atkission Motors. Over $1,110 was raised by the raffle, and all of the money was donated to help Victoria Enmon, a teenager from Little Cypress who is battling leukemia.
Winners were also announced in the rodeo coloring contest. Jermany Breaux, in the 3- to- 5-year-old category, Sierra Lee, in the 6- to- 9-year-old category and Lucas Moore, in the 10- to- 12-year-old category each received $25 Orange Chamber gift certificates for their western-inspired artwork.
