VIDOR —
A Vidor man was arrested and charged with multiple offenses after police answered the call to gunshots fired early Sunday evening.
Jimmy Thomas Adcock, 26, was arrested Sunday night and charged with possession of a controlled substance, forgery, resisting arrest and an outstanding warrant for a state parole violation following a traffic stop at an apartment complex at 425 S. Archie St. in Vidor.
Officers with the Vidor Police Department and its Street Crimes Unit had initially responded to a call of gunshots fired in the area of the Vidor Post Office, which is located in the 100 block of South Archie. Upon arrival, police located a silver Saturn traveling northbound from the area where the shots were reported.
Police stated the vehicle’s registration was expired and that the driver, Adcock, “was very nervous, breathing heavily and kept placing his hands out of sight.” Officers had Adcock exit the vehicle and began a pat down, which Adcock “did not want to comply.”
Police noticed a small blue baggie “fall to the ground from the driver,” which contained a clear crystal-like substance police believe to be methamphetamine. A scuffle ensued and Adcock was taken into custody.
Officers also discovered what is believed to be a counterfeit $100 bill lying on a seat in the vehicle. It was photographed and collected as evidence in the investigation.
“The Street Crimes Unit has been effective in targeting those with criminal intentions in our community,” Vidor Chief of Police Dave Shows in a statement. “We will continue to pursue those individuals involved in criminal activity in our neighborhoods”.
Adcock was transferred to the Orange County Jail and arraigned by David Peck, Orange County Justice of the Peace - Precinct 1. Bond was set at $5,000 each for the possession and forgery charges, and $2,500 for the resisting arrest charge. No bond was given on the State of Texas parole violation.
