Boil water notice rescinded in Vidor

VIDOR — A boil water notice for approximately 200 customers of Orange County Water Control and Improvement District number 1 was rescinded Tuesday afternoon.

Orange County WC&ID; 1 issued a boil water notice Monday morning for an area of Vidor known as Bahama Heights, which is located adjacent to State Highway 12. Customers affected by Monday’s boil water notice included those living on Aery Road, Bahama Drive, Aloha Drive, Ricky Lane, and Nassau Road.

According to a press release, the water district has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore adequate pressure, disinfectant levels and bacteriological quality. It has also provided the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) with testing results that indicate the boil water notice could be rescinded.

On Monday, Darlene Jackson, manager of the water district, said a major leak on a broken water main was found on New Year’s Eve and temporary repairs were made at that time to get customers through the weekend.

Jackson said between 150 to 200 customers were affected by Monday’s boil water notice, including a mobile home park on Aery Road.
