Music show to have Orange flavor
Marcia Ball to perform, be inducted into Hall of Fame
Make plans now because the 2010 Gulf Coast Music Hall of Fame Show is going to have an Orange flavor.
The 23rd Annual Gulf Coast Music Hall of Fame Show, formerly known as the Janis Joplin Birthday Bash, will be held at 7 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, inside the Robert A. “Bob” Bowers Civic Center in Port Arthur. Headlining is Orange-native Marcia Ball, who also just happens to be the featured inductee into the Gulf Coast Music Hall of Fame.
Adult tickets are $22 in advance and go on sale Wednesday at A&S; Music in Nederland, Swicegood Music in Beaumont, The Penny Record in Bridge City, and the Robert A. “Bob” Bowers Civic Center box office in Port Arthur. Children ages 12 and younger are admitted free at the door only with a parent.
This year’s Janis Joplin tribute performer is Susan Pierce and Ultra Suede, along with special guests Jivin’ Gene, Ken Marvel and Swamp Rock, and Still Cruisin’.
Typically, the Master of Ceremonies is a well known figure in the community, but this year’s emcee is a true blast from the past. Steve-O “The Night Rider,” was a popular radio disc-jockey in the Southeast Texas from 1959 to 1967, and his voice will surely bring back plenty of great memories for many fans on this night.
