Services set for LC-M senior killed in crash
Services for the Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School senior who was killed in a wreck are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Dorman Funeral Home with visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
James William English, 18, of Mauriceville, was riding about 12:48 a.m. in the back seat behind the driver, Kelby Simspon,18, of Orange in a 2002 Honda on Highway 12 near Stark, Louisiana.
Simpson reported to police she had swerved off the road to avoid an animal. As a result, after the vehicle left the roadway, it traveled about 160 feet rotating clockwise before striking a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to information from the Louisiana State Police.
Simpson along with the other two passengers Clint Dunn and Greg Perry Jr. were transported to Baptist Hosptial-Orange with moderate injuries.
Alcohol and seatbelt use is unknown at this time. Toxicology tests are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
English was a senior at Little Cypress- Mauriceville High School where he enjoyed debating. He also had obtained membership in the National Honor Society and recently won the Stark Reading Contest. English worked at Market Basket. But, he had an artistic side with his love of music, both writing and playing his guitar.
