Drug cases top indictments
Cases involving drugs top the list of indictments returned this week by the Orange County grand jury.
One of the indictments returned is against James Ross Wright, 63, of Smyrma, Ga. for felony possession of marijuana.
According to reports from the Vidor police department, Wright was allegedly driving east about 2 a.m. on Interstate 10 near the rest stop area when he was pulled over on a traffic stop. Wright allegedly failed to signal a lane change. When the officer approached the vehicle he allegedly could smell marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Officers were given consent to search the vehicle and found a large quantity of marijuana.
Other indictments returned include:
• Darron Dewayne Denbow Jr. ,Vidor, felony possession of a controlled substance - Denbow is accused of being in possession of illegal drugs when police went to investigate suspicious activity;
• Wanda Powell Smith, Bridge City, felony possession of a controlled substance — Smith is accused of being in possession of cocaine following a traffic stop by the Bridge City Police Department;
• Reginald Crosson, Orange, felony possession of a controlled substance — Crosson is a accused of being in possession of cocaine following a traffic stop by the Orange Police Department;
• Ronald Charles Foster Jr., Orange, felony possession of a controlled substance — Foster is accused of being in possession of cocaine following the execution of a search warrant at his residence in Orange;
• Christopher James Jones, Orange, tampering with a governmental record — Jones is accused of using a fake name and signing several official documents when he was booked into the Orange County Jail.
• Floyd Phillips, Orange, felony theft — Phillips is accused of having a record of habitual theft and being caught stealing property from a store in Pinehurst;
• Joshua Floyd Working, Orange, driving while intoxicated with a child passenger — Working is accused of driving a vehicle while intoxicated and having a child passenger in the vehicle with him;
• Megan Leigh Dunbar, Orange, securing execution of a document by deception — Dunbar is accused of lying about her husband’s employment income in order to obtain excessive welfare benefits;
• Patrick Matthew Davis, Vidor, sexual assault — Davis is accused of sexually assaulting a child in Vidor;
• Donald Ray Andrus, Bridge City, felony driving while intoxicated — Andrus is accused of driving while intoxicated with at least two prior convictions for the same offense.
