ORANGEFIELD —
A weekend pump failure has left all customers of a local water district under a boil water notice for a second day.
Customers of the Orangefield Water Supply Corporation remain under a boil water notice on Monday afternoon following a water pump failure on Sunday, Feb. 17.
Mike West, field supervisor with Orangefield Water Supply, said customers began calling reporting low water pressure between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., Sunday. The problem was traced back to a pump, but West said it was unclear if the pump had failed or just the motor.
West said the boil water notice will remain in effect until results of new water samples, which are submitted to the Sabine River Authority, have been approved.
Water is safe to use for bathing purposes and watering plants, but must be boiled for consumption or cooking. All customers should boil water vigorously for at least two minutes prior to drinking water, using it for cooking or for making ice.
