Lutcher Stark Class Reunion

Open House
Bridge City Elementary will hold Open House from 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 5. All classrooms will feature student work on display. Each grade level will display items from spring and Texas themes. Title I teachers will host a parent meeting that will feature fun learning games parents can do with their child to promote reading and math.

Green Thumb Series
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension of Orange County is holding the 2nd group of classes in the Green Thumb Series called Plant Propagation and Botany. The topics of this series are: Plant Categories and Plant Processes; Plant Parts and Functions; Flowers, Fruits, Seeds, and Germination; Environmental Factors; and Plant Nutrition and Hormones. These classes are being held at the Mauriceville Community Center (Crawfish Festival Grounds) from 6 pm to 8 pm. Classes are as scheduled: March 5, March 19, and March 26. The Orange Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is beginning its annual book drive to collect “gently used” books for their scholarship fund. Manage Diabetes
Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and Prairie View A&M University Cooperative Extension are partnering together to offer wisdom, power, control Orange County. A family-centered program taught by medical professionals that will be held once a week for seven weeks. All materials will be provided. The program is for anyone who wants to be healthy with diabetes? The classes are free and will provide free A1c Test for those who qualify. Classes will be held at North Early Learning Center, 801 Cordrey in Orange and will start Tuesday, March 19 and goes through Tuesday, April 30 from 9 am - 11 am. GED Test Dates
Vidor ISD announces that GED tests are changing beginning in January 2014. Those who are currently working on the test process must complete it in 2013 or start the process over from the beginning. The 2013 test dates for GED at the AIM Center High School are March 20 and March 21. Dates are subject to change, and more dates will be held each following month, so check with the testing centers at 951-8780. Examinees are expected to arrive on time. Testing begins promptly at 4:30 p.m. Doors will be locked at that time. Tutoring for the GED is also available in Vidor ISD. Call AIM Center High School for further information.

Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center, 2111 W. Park in Orange, will hold its Saturday Adventure Series from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 23. Team Captain meeting
The Orange County Relay for Life will hold a month Team Captain meetings on Monday, March 25. The Team Captain meetings will be held at the Lamar State College – Orange Wilson Building, Room 101. The April 25 meeting will begin at 5:45 p.m. Additional team captain meetings are scheduled April 22. All Team Captain meetings are directed at planning for the Orange County Relay for Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, which will be held May 3 – 4, 2013 at Bridge City High School from 6:30 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. This year’s theme is “A Little Bit of Texas, A Whole Lot of Hope.” Individuals or teams interested in becoming involved with this event are invited to attend the meeting and register on-line at www.OrangeCountyRelay.org
