LITTLE CYPRESS —
Several students from Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD had paintings that earned recognition in the 2013 Houston Livestock Rodeo Art Contest.
Winners include Jared Abbott, “Best of Show” for sixth through eighth grades. Jared Abbott is a seventh grader at Little Cypress Junior High. The “Gold Medal” winner for sixth through eighth grades is Reanna Longmire, seventh grade at MMS. The LCM HS “Best of Show” is Sarah St. John, 12th grade and “Gold Medal” winners Harman Kaur, 12th grade and Emily St. John, 11th grade.
There are five pieces of artwork from LC-M CISD that will be on display in the Hayloft Gallery throughout the duration of the rodeo. The three pieces from the High School will continue to the second round of judging where the judges will decide if the pieces qualify for the Art Auction.
The Award ceremony, which will be held on March 3, is when all the students receive their trophies and/or medals. At this time, they will also find out if their artwork will be included in the art auction and if they were accepted into summer art classes.
