ORANGE —
As people are adjusting to the news of Dr. Howard Williams stepping down as chairman of the Orange County Historical Commission it is also time to apply for appointments to the committee.
Orange County Judge Carl Thibodeaux said those interested in being appointed for the commission can send him a letter of interest and his office would pass it onto the historical commission.
The historical commission makes the recommendations to the Orange County Commissioners Court who in turns makes the official appointments.
The term for the seat is two years with new appointments being made in January of odd-numbered years.
“We have ten open seats,” Thibodeaux said. “We can have more if there if we have a large response.”
The county historical commission represents all precincts in the county and members are to reflect the varied ages and diverse backgrounds while demonstrating an active interest in historic preservation.
