BRIDGE CITY —
“It’s time to wake up for school.” Across the state two weeks ago that was the sound in households everywhere. The statement was met with many different responses, from bounding out of bed to “give me five more minutes”. Regardless of the reaction, the statement raised the excitement and anticipation level of students, educators and parents everywhere.
In Bridge City ISD that level is very high as we look forward to a great school year. As we say in Bridge City ISD, “We Are the Best in Texas”, we can say this because of the quality of students, educators, Board of Trustees, and families we have in Bridge City. We are blessed in all areas with individuals that have a tremendous amount of pride in themselves, their school and community.
Our mission at Bridge City ISD is to provide the best well rounded education possible for our students. That education includes a strong academic program that challenges students to think for themselves and prepares them for future learning opportunities. We also want to offer a varied extra/co-curricular programs that gives opportunity for student expression in many ways. Our students have the chance to express themselves musically, artistically, athletically as well as serve in many leadership roles within these different groups/teams.
The final leg of our educational opportunity is the offering of a multi-faceted vocational program.
We have a first rate cosmetology program and certified nurses assistant program that helps a number of students to be prepared for that field. This year also at the High School, we have added through a partnership with Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and other local organizations a welding, principals of manufacturing program to our high school vocational offering. This addition broadens our opportunities for our students as they explore possible career choices or just learn a skill that may come in handy in their everyday life.
Our students are fortunate to have the group of teachers and administrators we do at the High School preparing them for the final step in the education pathway here in BCISD.
That pathway begins at Bridge City Elementary, where our students are educated in a state of the art building with outstanding teachers that do a tremendous job of introducing the students to the excitement of learning. Just walking into that building gets you fired up to learn. Throw in the great group of educators on that campus and you have a great recipe for success.
When our students enter Bridge City Intermediate they get to experience for the first time leadership opportunities in student council and state testing. They are instructed by a dedicated group of educators that ensure that the students learn the importance of being involved and doing your best. The theme at Bridge City Intermediate is “On the Red Carpet to Achievement” and we have some STAR teachers and students working together to ensure that happens.
As the students enter Bridge City Middle School they find a campus that prepares them for their high school careers but recognizes that they are still young students. At the Middle School the students get to experience for the first time the extracurricular activities along with the excellent academic program offered throughout the district. They get to do this with a great group of teachers that truly love middle school kids. Any teacher that works with middle school students has a special calling and the Bridge City Middle School teachers are no exception.
As said earlier, we are blessed in Bridge City and Bridge City ISD. It truly takes all of our students, educators and community working to make Bridge City ISD “The Best in Texas”. We thank everyone for their hard work and support and invite you out to visit us. Just be sure to do it soon, because it won’t be long till summer time is here and the “It’s time for school” chorus will go quiet for a little while.
