One only thought the 2nd grade class at St. Mary Catholic School were excited about winning a Classroom Makeover Contest sponsored by Sabine Federal Credit Union until the unveiling of the new classroom on Friday.
The classroom now has new cabinets for storing books and other supplies, window coverings and a fresh coat of paint.
The students were moved to another classroom for four days while volunteers, including 8th grade students, helped with the makeover.
Sabine Federal Credit Union awarded $2,000 in prize money to two winners of a Classroom Makeover Contest. The teacher is has to be a member in good standing of Sabine Federal Credit Union and must teach at a school located in Orange County Texas, Jefferson County Texas, or Hardin County Texas. This is the third year for the contest.
“Mrs. Wimberly put a lot of work and effort into the classroom,” Maureen McAllister of the Sabine Federal Credit Union said.
McAllister, Kristen Williams and CEO David Meaux of Sabine Credit Union brought gift bags for the students to celebrate the new look of the classroom.
“It feels like we moved out and have a new classroom,” Brady Anderson, 2nd grade student said.
