VIDOR —
A new addition to the local restaurant selection is coming to town this spring.
The French Quarter Bar and Grill is tentatively scheduled to open in mid-April and will be located on South Street in the strip center near New York Pizza and Pasta. The business is owned by the same group which owns New York Pizza and Pasta locations in Southeast Texas.
It will also be the first full bar and grill type location in Vidor, and only the second dining establishment, joining New York Pizza and Pasta, to sell alcoholic beverages since the passing of the local amendment election in November 2011.
“Vidor needs something like this,” said Alfredo Kulici of the family-owned New York Pizza and Pasta and soon-to-be opened French Quarter Bar and Grill. “We’ve made a lot of friends in Vidor, since we’ve been here, and there are no places like this to go hang out and have a few drinks after work with friends. We’ve talked it over and thought about it for nearly a year and decided now was the time.”
Many comparisons to other well known bar and grill-style establishments are running rampant through social media, such as comparisons to Dylan’s and Madison’s, but Kulici said that really is not the case.
“We are bringing something different to Vidor,” Kulici explained. “The menu will be a mix of Texan and Cajun-style foods and even feature European sandwiches. It’s something for everybody from Tex-Mex to big juicy burgers to light, tasty sandwiches.”
The French Quarter Bar and Grill will also offer something new to Vidor patrons with plans being made to include live music and a dance floor, along with a small outdoor patio.
“We want to have live music two or three nights a week,” he added. “From full bands to acoustic performances, we think it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
French Quarter Bar and Grill will be open seven-days-a-week and is tentatively scheduled to close at midnight Sunday through Thursday and stay open every Friday and Saturday until 2 a.m.
“The support and patronage of our customers and friends have helped make this more exciting for us,” Kulici stated. “We really appreciate the people of Vidor. They have been so kind to us, and that’s why we chose to open our newest business here.”
