More than physical books are in the library nowadays.
Visit the Bridge City Public Library and you’ll discover an array of offerings. First, of course, are a variety of books on the shelves—fiction of all genres including westerns, romance, horror, science fiction, and classics. Also, non-fiction titles including war memoirs, biography, self-help, and animals to name a few selections.
For those who need larger print, we have a selection of books that will be a feast for your eyes. Young adults will enjoy our vampire flavored books as well as the romance and adolescent life experience ones. The children’s titles are ready to enjoy as is, or can be used to learn to read or to take AR tests at school.
Don’t like to read? Let someone read to you. On the shelves also is a selection of audiobooks to listen to in your car or home. If you just prefer to see a story, look at our selection of DVDs.
In addition to books or audiobooks on the shelf, we have books that can be downloaded to any reading device, to your computer or to your tablet. By going to our web site, bridgecitypubliclibrary.com, and selecting the “Overdrive” icon, you can choose from a variety of books or audiobooks to download. Inserting your free library card number and the phone number listed at the library will be all you need. At the website also, you can check our catalog to determine if we have a title available or to check your account to see what you have checked out.
While in the library, you have a choice of options. Sit in our reading area and browse our magazines and newspapers, let the children play safe games on our two children’s computers, browse the Internet on eight computers or two laptops, bring your own laptop and use our wireless connection, make copies on our copy machine or select books from our Friend’s book sale in the lobby.
If you have small children, inquire about our two children’s programs held on Wednesdays. If you have some loose change or dollars, feed our Friend’s bank to help them finish the new addition.
We welcome you to visit us during our open hour, which are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday through Wednesday 10-6; 1 p.m. - 7 p.m., Thursday; and 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., Friday.
