Man arrested following car chase

VIDOR — One person has been arrested following a brief car chase in Vidor on Friday afternoon.

Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop an unidentified man driving a car at approximately 2 p.m., Friday, in the area of FM 105 and FM 1131 north of Vidor in Orange County. The driver refused to stop and continued driving south on FM 105 where he entered the Vidor City Limits.

Deputies, along with troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety and officers from the Vidor Police Department, continued to pursue the vehicle all the way to Mary Beth Street, which is located off FM 1132 between State Highway 12 and East Railroad in Vidor.

Deputies reportedly could see the individual throwing something from the vehicle window, presumably narcotics, during the chase.

The man crashed his car into a ditch near a residence on Mary Beth Street and was taken into custody. The driver’s identity has not been released.
