The Orange County Health Inspector recently did a routine inspection at Donut Palace located at 11258 Highway 12 in Mauriceville. They received an 85 out of a possible 100. Demerits are for foods in the hot hold section being at below safe temperatures, storing dough in plastic grocery bags, using floral scented bleach, and cooling equipment dripping water from the motor into a pan.
Other scores include:
• Crawdad’s - Moz Grill located at 11845 Highway 62 in Mauriceville. Score: 89. Demerits are for an employee wearing improper earrings, no hot water found at the hand-washing sink, and repairs needed for the motor for the walk-in cooler.
• Crawdad’s - Store located at 11845 Highway 62 in Mauriceville. Score: 100.
• Happy Donuts located at 1081 North Main Street in Vidor. Score: 78. Demerits are for foods in the hot hold area at below unsafe temperatures, storing dough in laundry detergent bucket, having a child in the back room, in need of dating foods in the cooler, cappuccino machine in need of being cleaned of old foods and the motor in the cooler in need of being repaired.
• Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant located at 137 MacArthur Drive in Orange. Score: 90. Demerits are for employees drinks mixed with other foods in the coolers, the vents above stove and fryers in need of being cleaned and the door to the walk-in cooler in need of repairs.
• Dairy Queen located at 11785 Highway 62 in Mauriceville. Score: 96. Demerits are for employees drinks on shelves with other foods.
• McDonald’s #7018 located at 755 Texas Avenue in Bridge City. Score: 92. Demerits are for chicken nuggets in the hot hold area below safe temperatures, and inside of equipment in need f being cleaned of old foods.
• Bridge City Food Mart located at 1000 West Roundbunch in Bridge City. Score: 100.
• Sonic located at 3103 16th Street in Orange. Score: 93. Demerits are for light shields needed throughout, food stored on the floor in the freezer, outside of equipment needs to be cleaned of old foods, and in need of replacing or repairing the cutting board.
• Avila’s Mexican Restaurant located at 2615 Western Avenue in West Orange. Score: 93. Demerits are for needing to date/label foods in the cooler and in need of cleaning and sanitizing storage equipment of old foods.
• Dairy Queen located at 780 North Main Street in Vidor. Score: 93. Demerits are for an employee with improper jewelry, and the walk-in cooler dripping water. It is noted on the report, the manager said both the cooler and freezer were being replaced.
