BEAUMONT —
The Boomtown Film and Music Festival is back for another weekend of terrific independent films from aspiring movie producers and directors and a great evening of music featuring several awesome local bands and a blast from the past as well.
The event begins Friday, Feb. 22 with lots of great live music at Tequila Rok. The show begins at 9 p.m. featuring, in order of appearance, Crystal Cloud, Quasar, Native America, Driver Friendly and Hello Chief.
The Dishman Art Museum, also located in downtown Beaumont, will feature other events such as films and narrative shorts during the evening as well.
On Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Spindletop Gladys City Boomtown Museum near Lamar University off State Highway 69 in Beaumont, films will be the focus of the day but music will not take a backseat.
Events include an Open Mic event at noon, followed by Silas Feemster, Greg Jr., Barelands, another open mic event, Dylan James Meaux, Sun and Shadow, and closing the event is Yellowbellies.
Once the fun ends at Gladys City, the good times will continue just down the road at Kampus Korner Bar and Grill on the campus of Lamar University with even more music on tap. Admission is $10 at the door for this event, but a $15 FULL ACCESS pass will get you admission into all events of the Boomtown Film and Music Festival.
Bands scheduled to perform, beginning at 9 p.m., Saturday, in order, are Hitchhikers, Too Heavy Boxes, Octopoodle, the much anticipated reunion performance of Sharks From Space, and Jenny and the Reincarnation.
