BEAUMONT —
A Florida man has died after being hit by another vehicle following a wreck late Wednesday night.
The Beaumont Police Department responded to a report of a wreck at approximately 11:15 p.m., Wednesday, in the 800 block of Interstate 10 East, near MLK Parkway.
Upon arrival, officers gathered information from witnesses and evidence at the scene of incident that the driver of a gray GMS Sierra pickup from Florida was traveling east on Interstate 10 when it reportedly hit the outside guardrail and then the inside guardrail.
The driver, Benjamin L. Jackson of Clearwater Beach, Fla., was the sole occupant of the Sierra. Jackson was ejected from the vehicle into the westbound traffic lanes. He was hit by another vehicle, which then reportedly left the scene, and died at the site of the wreck.
Justice of the Peace Nancy Beaulieu has called for an inquest.
