VIDOR —
A motorcyclist attempting to pass a vehicle died late Saturday night after colliding with a truck.
Joshua Aaron Hyde, 24, died when the motorcycle he was driving struck a 2008 Dodge Ram truck shortly after 10:30 p.m., Saturday, June 2, in the 500 block of South Main Street in Vidor.
According to Lt. Arthur Carter of the Vidor Police Department, Corey Boutte of Vidor was attempting to make a left turn out of the Waterfall Apartment complex onto South Main. Another vehicle was turning into the complex from South Main.
Police say Boutte exited the complex and began turning at the same time as the other vehicle entered, when Hyde, driving a 2006 Honda motorcycle, attempted to pass to the left of the vehicle turning into the complex and struck the driver’s side of Boutte’s truck.
Vidor police arrived at the scene and found Hyde already deceased from apparent head injuries. David Peck, Orange County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1, arrived at the scene and called for an inquest.
Information was not immediately available if Hyde was wearing a helmet.
The incident remains under investigation by Sgt. Lee Brading and Officer Ed Spera of the Vidor Police Department, and, at this time, police do not believe alcohol to be a factor.
