An Orange man was indicted this week on charges of aggravated assault after he led law enforcement on a manhunt in Orangefield.

Tommy Lynn Jones, 37, later turned himself in to officials. He is accused of beating his wife June 10 while she lay sleeping in her bed at her residence located in the 3200 block of Linscomb Road. The couple’s 17-year-old daughter called 911 to report the incident.

Deputies responded to the scene and found the 43-year-old woman bleeding profusely from her head and face. Jones reportedly beat her with his hands and fists. She was transferred to a local hospital where she was treated and released.

Following the alleged assault, Jones, who had borrowed a Ford F-250 to get to the scene, attempted to leave the area. He reportedly lost control after going over the railroad tracks struck a house on South Terry Road.
