VIDOR —
Motorists traveling Main Street will need to find an alternate route this Saturday when heading north or south across the FM 105 railroad tracks.
Two sections of the Kansas City Southern (KCS) railroad system will be be temporarilty closed from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, at work crews with the railroad company make repairs to the crossing at FM 105 and Old Highway 90 in Vidor and the one located on FM 1132 at East Railroad between State Highway 12 and Interstate 10.
“The work is taking place during the weekend to keep from interfering with rush-hour week-day traffic,” stated Marc Shepherd, public information officer for the Texas Department of Public Safety. “TxDOT is assisting with traffic control, KCS is responsible for repairs to the crossing. The work includes replacing the rail, but they expect to be completed by 7 p.m.”
Motorists should expect delays and numerous detours to avoid the work areas. While traveling through the detour areas, Shepherd reminds drivers to be extra cautious as workers are present.
The work is said to be part of an upgrade to the rail system which travels through Vidor and is expected to improve train traffic through the community.
