BRIDGE CITY —
A Bridge City man is dead following an early morning collision at the foot of the Rainbow Bridge.
Brian Babcock of Bridge City died early Monday following a two vehicle collision shortly before 6 a.m., Monday, at the foot of the Rainbow Bridge in Orange County.
Babcock, 56, was driving a 2010 Yamaha motorcycle in the southbound right lane of State Highway 87 and veered into the inside lane “for an unknown reason,” according to information provided by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Babcock was struck by a Pontiac automobile driven by Angel Bowman of Orange. He was transported by ambulance to St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur, in what authorities described as “critical condition,” while Bowman, 30, received only minor injuries.
Authorities stated Babcock died at St. Mary Hospital at 6:51 a.m., Monday.
The wreck remains under investigation.
