BEAUMONT —
A man who police say was involved in a robbery early Sunday morning has been arrested following a high-speed chase.
Cedric Pittman of Lake Charles, La. was arrested by officers with the Iowa Police Department following a high speed chase in Iowa, La. early Sunday. According to police, Pittman, 18, was driving a 2001 Infinity when police attempted to conduct a traffic stop shortly after 1:15 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 3.
Pittman attempted to evade police and a high-speed chase began. Pittman eventually crashed the vehicle into a house, where officers were able to apprehend the man. No injuries were reported by occupants of the house.
The vehicle driven by Pittman was soon discovered to have been reported stolen late Saturday night in Beaumont.
According to information from the Beaumont Police Department, the owner of the 2001 Infinity reported the vehicle stolen at approximately 11:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, after he was confronted by two men in his driveway in the 3200 block of Euclid Street.
Police say one of the two men struck the car owner with a handgun and both men left the scene in the victim’s automobile. The unidentified victim suffered a minor injury during the crime.
Pittman remains in custody Monday and has been charged with aggravated flight from officers, resisting arrest, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal damage of property.
