ORANGE —
A counterfeit $10 bill was used in an attempt to purchase cigarettes Monday at the 800 block of Strickland in Orange.
An officer from the Orange Police Department met with a clerk at the convenience store as well as the individual who attempted to make the purchase.
According to the police report, the clerk said he noticed the bill felt different which indicated it could possibly be fake.
The customer told the officer that he had received the money as change from a purchase made the day before at another location.
He also told the officer that he was unaware the bill was fake.
The case remains under investigation.
