After their 63-54 victory over Edinburg Harvest Christian Tuesday night, the Community Christian Lions will take on Fredericksburg Heritage Friday at 9 p.m. at Mansfield High School in the TAPPS 1A State Semifinals. The winner will play in the state title game Saturday at 2 p.m.
Matthew McAfee powered the Lions (14-8) in their win over Edinburg Harvest Christian. He recorded a huge double-double, finishing with 22 points and 12 rebounds and also added four blocked shots.
C.J. Wagner chimed in with nine points, eight rebounds and four assists. Brett Foster contributed nine points and four assists while Alex Parrish filtered in nine points and three rebounds.
The Lions broke open the game with a superb fourth period.
The teams were tied at 27-27 at the half but the Lions owned the second half with a 36-27 advantage.
Now its on to Mansfield to face Fredericksburg Heritage Friday night. Fredericksburg Heritage defeated Palmhurst Faith Christian 47-39 Tuesday.
Conroe Lifestyle defreated Heath The Fulton School 77-49 to reach state as well. Conroe Lifestyle will face either Wichita Falls Notre Dame or Plainview Christian in the other state semifinals at 7:30 p.m.
