H-F rushes past BC, 63-21
FANNETT — Getting 410 yards from its rushing attack and four touchdowns by Chris Bell, Hamshire-Fannett easily took care of the Bridge City Cardinals behind four touchdowns by Chris Bell 63-21 in District 21-3A play at Longhorn Stadium Friday night.
Bell finished with 87 yards on 13 carries and scored on runs of 5, 5, 7 and nine yards.
Hagan Daigle paced the bruising Hamshire-Fannett (5-3, 3-2) running game with 131 yards on eight carries and he scored on a 43-yard touchdown gallop in the third period. Jake Minaldi had 101 yards on 10 totes. Chris Smith added a 72-yard kickoff return for another Longhorns’ score.
Longhorn receiver Cameron Bell hauled in a 48-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Ricky Clark while Justin Scully added a 26-yard touchdown run.
The Longhorns amassed 458 yards while the Cardinals (0-9, 0-6) gained 279.
Cardinal sophomore tailback Joe Robertson had his second straight 100-yard game as he finished with 105 yards on 21 carries and scored on a 35-yard run in the third period.
Bridge City quarterback Dustin Breaux completed 10-of-20 passes for 99 yards and was intercepted twice. Breaux hooked up with receiver Luke Rhodes on a 12-yard scoring strike with 10 minutes remaining. Rhodes finished with four catches for 30 yards. Breaux, who scored on a 13-yard run with 1:27 left in the first period, had 38 yards on six carries.
The Cardinals will play host to first-place West Orange-Stark (8-1, 6-0) at Larry Ward Stadium next Friday while the Longhorns welcome second-place Kirbyville (8-1, 5-1).
