PORT NECHES — Brennan Doty fired in 32 points Tuesday night, leading the Port Neches-Groves Indians to a 69-57 victory over the West Orange-Stark Mustangs Tuesday night ast Indian Gym.
The Indians (9-2) led 37-28 at intermission after a 19-12 run in the second period and held on the rest of the way against the Mustangs (7-4).
Guard Jarvis Jones fired in 20 points to pace the Mustang attack.
Spencer DeRon and Layne Norris added 13 points apiece for the Indians, who open up 20-4A play at LC-M Friday night. Meanwhile, the Mustangs will visit LC-M Monday for a non-district tilt.
Vidor 51, H-F 49
VIDOR — Gunner Hansen hit a three-point bomb at the buzzer, lifting the Vidor Pirates to a 51-49 victory over the feisty Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns Tuesday night.
Vidor (8-7) led 29-23 only to see the Longhorns storm back to take the lead until the gam’e final series of events.
Jacob Williamson led the Pirates again, scoring 21 points while Danny Riddick and Will Jiminez tallied nine points apiece.
Logan Johnson and Caleb Broussard had 12 points each for the Longhorns while Stormey Crutchfield added 10.
The Pirates will start District20-4A play Friday when they play host to Beaumont Central.
OF girls 54, Evadale 40
EVADALE - Using a big first-quarter outburst, the Orangefield Lady Bobcats took down the Evadale Lady Rebels 54-40 at Rebel Gym in non-district play Tuesday night.
The Lady Bobcats (10-3) used a 16-4 run in the first period to power their way to the victory and led the Lady Rebels (8-5) 35-16 at intermission.
Morgan Moss pumped in a season-high 17 points for Orangefield and had five rebounds and five assists.
Post Aimee Scales contributed 16 points, six steals and five rebounds. Megan Burton added eight points, four assists and four steals and Kacey LeBlanc added five points.
Gravis had 12 points for Evadale while Jones added 10. OF will visit Stafford Monday..
