DEWEYVILLE — The West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs notched a pair of wins at the Deweyville Classic Thursday while the host Lady Pirates got one as well.
WO-S (6-5) defeated West Hardin 76-28 and toppled Buna 43-37.
In the win over West Hardin, Demetrius Heard poured in 27 points and had six steals. Ryshaniqua Winbush had a double-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds and added eight steals. Cayla Adams contributed five points and had 11 steals and seven assists.
In the win over Buna, Heard poured in 20 points and had seven steals and six rebounds. Winbush had yet another double-double, scoring 12 points while grabbing 12 boards.
Mysheniqua Warnell added 11 rebounds.
The Lady Pirates sank Community Christian 58-32.
Marley Moss led the Lady Pirates with 18 points. Skylar Webster pumped in 12 points while Heather Beaudoin had 11 and Kaycee Spears 10.
Other scores included Hardin 64, High Island 28 and Burkeville 42, Chester 37.
Today’s games will pit West Hardin vs. High Island (noon); Chester vs. Community Christian (1:3 0 p.m.); WO-S vs. Hardin (3:30 p.m.) and Deweyville vs. Burkeville (5 p.m.).
H-J tourney
SOUR LAKE - The Little Cypress-Mauiceville Bears downed the Huntington Red Devils 57-42 in their first game at the Hardin-Jefferson Tournament Thursday.
The Bears (8-2) utilized a 20-2 run in the second quarter to pull away.
Christian Harley led the Bears with 14 points while Cameron Johnson pumped in 11 and Johnny Epps had 10.
The Bears also defeated East Chambers 56-51 in a late game with those stats being in Saturday’s edition of The Leader.
The Vidor Pirates split at the tourney.
Vidor (5-5) dropped their first game to Kountze 79-44.
Danny Riddick led the Pirates with 12 points while Jacob Williamson had 10.
The Pirates bounced back later by toppling Valley View 65-45.
Williamson led the way with 19 points. Gunner Hansen chimed in with 13 points while Riddick added 11.
