BRIDGE CITY — Using a first-quarter explosion, Little Cypress-Mauriceville never looked back as the Bears cruised to a 76-39 victory over the Bridge City Cardinals at Cardinal Gym Tuesday afternoon.

The Bears (3-0) went on a 21-6 tear in the first period and a 20-8 spurt in the second quarter to pull away from the Cardinals (1-3).

Post Preston Armstrong and guard Cameron Johnson spearheaded a very balanced LC-M attack.

Armstrong scored six points and Johnson five to spark the Bears in the first period and LC-M forced the Cardinals into eight turnovers.

Seven different Bears put points on the board in the second quarter to increase the margin to 41-14 at intermission.

LC-M increased its cushion to 57-24 at the end of the third. McAnelly had 11 of his points after intermission for the Cardinals while Peterson had eight of his in the second half.

The Bears finished with a 41-25 rebounding edge.

Bridge City finished with 20 turnovers while LC-M had 11.

LC-M was just 10-of-20 from the free-throw line while the Cardinals were a solid 17-of-23.

Both teams return to action Dec. 1 when the Bears host Hamshire-Fannett and the Cardinals travel to Winnie to face East Chambers.
