Kountze outlasts Pirates in 23-2A play
DEWEYVILLE — The Deweyville Pirates watched an 8-6 halftime lead evaporate on their Homecoming when the Kountze ran back the second half kickoff back for a touchdown as the Lions went on to secure a 20-8 District 23-2A victory at Pirate Stadium Friday night.
The Pirates (1-6, 0-3) went up in the first half when senior tailback Keeton Addison cashed in on a touchdown gallo.
Addison, who now has 568 yards and four touchdowns for the season on 85 carries, finished the night with 80 yards on 14 totes.
The Lions (3-4, 2-1) limited the Pirates to just 156 yards in the sloppy conditions.
Junior tailback Trey Craft contributed 41 tough yards on 15 carries.Junior quarterback Michael Williams completed 2-of-11 passes for 14 yards.
Kountze managed 175 yards on the ground and 106 in the air.
In other 23-2A action Friday, East Chambers (5-2, 3-0) stayed perfect in district play with a 42-7 spanking of Hardin (3-3, 0-2) while Buna (4-3, 2-1) lambasted Warren (2-4, 0-2) 58-12. Anahuac (5-1, 2-0) was open.
This week the Pirates will venture to Warren.
