ORANGEFIELD —
Orangefield dominated the time of possession against the Silsbee Tigers Friday, yet it was the visitors who would get the last laugh.
The Tigers opened their District 21-3A schedule with a 48-7 win over the Bobcats, who fall to 1-4 on the season and 0-1 in District 21-3A play.
The score was lopsided yet the Orangefield defense did come to play against the Tigers who only racked up 193 yards on the ground and 85 in the air.
Orangefield’s rushing attack had 182 yards on 49 carries.
Carl Wiley finally got the Bobcats on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter when the tailback darted 67 yards for a touchdown.
Wiley finished with 121 yards on 21 carries.
The Tigers (4-1, 1-0) led 34-0 at intermission.
Dynamic quarterback Patrick Reed scored on a seven-yard run in the first period and scored on a 45-yard jaunt in the same quarter.
The Tigers tacked on 21 more points in the second period.
Tailback Floyd Spearman scored on a five-yard scamper. Zayon Jackson followed with a 23-yard score and the Tigers closed out the first half when Reed hooked up with receiver Jordan Holmes on a 40-yard touchdown strike.
The Tigers received a one-yard touchdown run by Spearman in the third quarter and Holmes wrapped up the Silsbee scoring with a 55-yard punt return in the fourth period.
The Bobcats will look to bounce back next week when they visit Hamshire-Fannett while the Tigers return home to face Buna.
