First-place Orangefield wasted little time Tuesday night.
The Lady Bobcats blistered West Orange-Stark with an early assault and went on to post a decisive 25-6, 25-19, 25-15 victory over the Lady Mustangs at Bobcat Gym.
Jennifer McManus powered the Lady Bobcats, who are all alone in first in the District 21-3A standings with a perfect 5-0 mark, with a superb all-around performance.
McManus finished with a match-high 13 kills to go along with 13 service points and a stunning eight aces.
The Lady Mustangs (1-4 in 21-3A play) had problems with the Lady Bobcats’ service game all night. Orangefield finished with 16 aces.
The Lady Bobcats really were in an offensive groove when Hayleigh Turley was serving. Turley finished with 18 points and two aces.
Trailing WO-S 3-2 early in Game One, McManus served up five straight points and three aces as Orangefield grabbed a 8-3 lead. Leading 9-5, Turleigh then ran off 11 straight service points of her own and Morgan Moss sparked the Lady Bobcats with four of her nine kills in the game.
The Lady Bobcats led Game Two by as much as 18-7 but the Lady Mustangs, behind the hitting of Kia Carter, went on a 5-0 run to get as close as 24-18. Carter powered the WO-S attack with seven kills.
Rylie Granger had another solid all-around performance for the Lady Bobcats. She set up the offense well and also had nine points, four aces and four kills.
The Lady Bobcats received four kills from Taylor Benoit while Marisa Bishop had three and Kacey LeBlanc, who had another strong defensive effort, had two kills along with Morgan Worthy.
Megan Burton served up seven points and two aces for Orangefield while Holly Granger added two points.
Daija Roberts had seven service points for the Lady Mustangs and Ashle Taylor had five points while Shalin Hardin contributed three points and two aces.
NaShauna Ford added three kills for WO-S while Roberts added two.
The Lady Bobcats look to continue their winning ways Friday when they play host to the Silsbee Lady Tigers while the Lady Mustangs look to regroup at home against the Hamshire-Fannett Lady Longhorns.
