The last time Bridge City was on the field Ashton Hunter was all over it.
Bridge City’s running back chewed up Beaumont Kelly for 295 yards with a 62 yard touchdown run as the Cardinals blew out the Bulldogs 35-0. The Cardinals (1-2) rushed for 396 yards against the Bulldogs as a team.
Things get a little more serious this week as Bridge City travels to face new District 21-3A opponent Buna.
Buna is putting up 26 points a game in wins against Liberty and Hemphill. The Cougars, who average 372.33 yards a game, have lost to Center and Kirbyville.
Dalton Ford leads the offense with 395 yards and four touchdowns while Matthew Biddle has 329 yards and three trips to the endzone.
Glenn Patrick has only completed eight of 25 passes attempts for 197 yards with three interceptions and two touchdowns.
Buna gives up 28 points and 311.67 yards per game.
Bridge City averages 255.3 yards of offense a contest while allowing 282.3 yards a game.
Hunter has 380 yards while Kruz Dearbonne has 130 yards and two touchdowns.
Daniel Faulk is 16-of-37 passing for 173 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.
Adrian Schubart is the Cardinals leading receiver with seven receptions.
The Cardinals have one more non-district game at Jasper on Oct. 5 before returning to 21-3A play on Oct. 12 when the Silsbee Tigers head to Larry B. Ward Stadium.
