WEST ORANGE —
Erupting for 25 points in the second period, the West Orange-Stark Mustangs stormed past Orange County rival Bridge City 46-0 at Hooks Stadium Friday night to stay perfect on the season and in District 21-3A play as they now await a showdown in Silsbee next week that will decide the district crown.
The Mustangs (9-0, 5-0) put together their most stingiest performance of the year on the defensive side of the ball, limiting the Cardinals (4-5, 3-2) to 43 total yards and five first downs.
The win marked WO-S’ seventh shutout of the season and the 87th in school history. In six 21-3A games, the “Chain Gang” has yet to allow a point, outscoring their opponents 233-0 in the process.
