LITTLE CYPRESS —
The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears made quick work of Lumberton in District 20-4A action at Lady Bear Field Friday afternoon, downing the Lady Raiders 10-0 in five innings.
Senior ace Raven Cole worked all five innings on the hill for the Lady Bears (19-4, 5-0) and didn’t allow a hit while striking out 12 and walking three.
The Lady Bears erupted for seven runs of their runs in the bottom of the first frame.
Mikaela Steagall drew a leadoff walk. Kaleigh Roy followed with a bunt single and Kassie James stroked a RBI double to right. Taylor Fraccastoro drew a walk and Chelsea McLain made the Lady Raiders pay with a two-run single up the middle.
The Lady Bears were far from through in the frame as Morgan Babineaux also slapped a two-run single.
LC-M added another run in the third inning.
Stegall had a leadoff bunt single and eventuaslly scored on a two-out Fraccastoro double that barely stayed in the park that hit the top of the leftfield wall.
The Lady Bears scored a run in the fourth when Stegall had a two-out single and scored on a James RBI single to left.
LC-M tacked on their last run in the fifth. Babineaux and Hope Russell each had one-out singles and Babineaux scored the final run on a dropped fly ball hit by Stegall.
The Lady Bears will visit Beaumont Central on Tuesday before hosting the Vidor Lady Pirates next Friday.
