Rockets upend Grizzlies 109-102

HOUSTON — Kevin Martin scored 22 points to lead the Houston Rockets to a 109-102 preseason win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night.

Martin shot 8 of 11 from the field, including 4 of 5 from behind the 3-point arc. Patrick Patterson added 17 points.

Omer Asik had nine points and 11 rebounds before fouling out with 7:59 remaining, while Jeremy Lin had seven points and 12 assists but continued to struggle shooting, going 3 of 9 from the field.

Carlos Delfino had 14 points and Toney Douglas had 13 off the bench for Houston.

Mike Conley led the Grizzlies with 18 points on 7 of 10 shooting, while Rudy Gay added 13 points but shot 4 of 16. Zach Randolph added nine points and 10 rebounds.

Randolph gave Memphis a slight scare with 10:38 remaining in the third quarter when he came down awkwardly on Asik's foot. Randolph limped off the court and was grimacing in pain, but following a timeout, he stayed in the game.

Houston shot 70.6 percent during the third quarter and used an 18-9 run to extend its lead to 12 at 85-73 with 10 seconds remaining in the quarter on three Delfino free throws. Douglas had seven points in the run and Delfino added six points.

With 10:05 left in the fourth, there was a six-minute delay as the horn continued to blare throughout the arena. Game officials got the horn turned off and used airhorns the remainder of the game.
