BRIDGE CITY —
Two young athletes from Bridge City have qualified for the United States Track & Field Junior Olympics.
Both Alexus Henry and Malcolm Busby, multiple-sport athletes at Bridge City High School, will be heading to Baltimore, MD, in a couple weeks to compete in the Junior Olympics after having superb outings at the Region 12 Track and Field Junior Olympics Meet on June 29 held at Texas Tech University.
Both athletes will be competing in two events.
Henry placed first in the girls Intermeidaite Division in the high junp, going 5 feet, 1 inch. She also placed second in the triple jump, going 33-8 3/4.
Busby qualified for nationals in both the jumps in the Young Men Division.
He placed fifth in both the long jump (19-11 3-4) and the triple jump (40-11 1/2).
A benefit is being planned by Josh Abshier and Shelly Emerson Smart to help raise money for the expenses for their trip.
