WEST ORANGE —
The West Orange Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a rag ball tournament 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Field in Orange.
Mayor Roy McDonald asked how the city would be covered if the firemen would be at the tournament.
“Not all the guys will be playing,” Fire Chief Randy Veitch said. “The city will be covered.”
Veitch said a team was coming from Newton to participate on Saturday.
The council accepted and approved the 2012 delinquent tax roll. The delinquent taxes are from years 1992-2011.
The group also accepted and approved the 2012 current tax roll as submitted by Orange County Tax Assessor-Collector Lynda Gunstream for a total of $527,072.72.
The city council approved the bid for property located at 2830 Dowling. Only one bid was received for the location and was for the minimum allowed.
Mayor Pro Tiem Shirley Bonnin said that Holiday in the Park went really well this year.
All non-emergency departments will be closed on Monday, Nov. 12, in observance of Veterans’ Day.
The next city council meeting will be 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, at the West Orange Community Center, 2700 Western Avenue.
