WINNIE, Texas —
Arguably the great pop duo of the early to mid 1980s, Hall and Oates made Saturday’s concert a Nutty Jerry’s a fun trip down memory lane.
Hall and Oates, one of the greatest duos in music history, performed to approximately 1,200 adoring fans this past Saturday night, Dec. 8, at Nutty Jerry’s Entertainment Complex in Winnie, Texas.
The group, featuring Daryl Hall and John Oates, performed a hit-laden set of material for approximately 75-minutes. The pair wasted little time in idle chatter with the fans, instead preferring to let the music do the talking.
Hall and Oates opened the show with its 1984 number one single, “Out of Touch,” and continued to delight fans with classic hits such as “Family Man,” “Say It Isn’t So” and the soulful “She’s Gone.”
Whether the duo traded vocals or guitar licks, the hit songs continued one after another as both men appeared to be enjoying their time on stage in front of the Southeast Texas faithful who screamed in approval and danced in the aisles, in the stands and, at times, on the tables.
Other songs performed by Hall and Oates, to roaring applause, included “Sara Smile,” “Maneater” and “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do).”
The duo returned for its first encore and fans rejoiced with renditions of “Rich Girl” and “You Make My Dreams,” before disappearing off stage once again.
The lights may have been dim, but fans knew the show wasn’t quite over, and Hall and Oates returned to the stage one last time for, arguably, the duo’s defining songs as they closed the show with number one singles “Kiss on My List” and “Private Eyes,” both from 1981.
As much fun as the concert was for the fans, Hall and Oates obviously had a pleasant experience as well.
“You guys have made this a great night for us,” Hall said to the audience following the show. “We’ve really had fun. Thanks!”
