LAKE CHARLES, La. —
The new year is getting off to a great start as a true music legend is headed to Southwest Louisiana.
Gladys Knight, often referred to as the “Empress of Soul,” will perform on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, inside the event center at L’Auberge du Lac Casino and Resort in Lake Charles, La. for ages 21 and older. Tickets are $50-$60 and go on sale at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 4, at all Ticketmaster outlets, including online at www.ticketmaster.com and charge by phone at 800-745-3000.
For more than 50 years, Knight has performed as both a solo artist and a group with dozens of recordings featuring a versatile musical canvas of rhythm and blues and jazz.
Knight, who also happens to be an eight-time Grammy winning artist, is best known for classic hits such as “I Heard it Through the Grapevine,” “Midnight Train to Georgia,” “Neither One of Us (Wants to be the First to Say Goodbye)” “Men,” and many more. Her most current single, “I Who Have Nothing,” was released in September 2011. It was originally released in English by Ben E. King in 1963.
In 2009, the music legend performed her farewell tour of the United Kingdom. In 2011, Knight received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Soul Train Music Awards which is just one of her many honors for a career spanning over 55 years.
