Big name artists have always found time to stop in Southeast Texas for a concert every now and then. LocalMusicGuide.net takes a look back at some of the shows which have taken place between Sept. 29 through Oct. 5.
• Sept. 27, 2009 Legendary rock band Journey traveled to Southeast Texas for a showcase at Ford Pavilion in Beaumont. The band, featuring Filipino vocalist Arnel Pineda, was touring in support of its June 2008 release, “Revelation.” Rock band Night Ranger opened the show as the group toured in support of its 2008 release, “Hole in the Sun.”
• Sept. 27, 2007 Clint Black performed to a capacity crowd at the Miriam Lutcher Theater in Orange in support of his January 2007 release, “The Love Songs.”
• Sept. 27, 1985 The legendary Glen Miller Orchestra traveled to Southeast Texas for a sold out showcase inside the Miriam Lutcher Theater in Orange.
• Sept. 27, 1981 Canadian rock act Triumph performed in Beaumont in support its album, “Allied Forces,” which featured the hit singles “Magic Power” and “Fight the Good Fight” and was released just eight days prior to the Beaumont show.
• Oct. 1, 2010 Australian rockers Sick Puppies performed at Whiskey River in Beaumont, Texas, as the group continued to tour in support of its July 2009 release, “Tri-Polar,” behind its popular radio singles “You’re Going Down” and “Riptide.”
• Oct. 1, 1994 The Lutcher Theater welcomed country music star Kathy Mattea performed in Orange in support of “Walking Away a Winner,” the final gold-certified album of her career and featured the final Top 10 single of her career in the album’s title track. Opening the show was Jimmie D. Gilmore.
• Oct. 1, 1985 Motley Crue, touring in support of its June 1985 release, “Theatre of Pain,” featuring the hit songs “Smokin’ in the Boys Room” and “Home Sweet Home,” performed at the Beaumont Civic Center to a standing room only crowd. California rockers Y&T, touring behind its hit single “Summertime Girls” and forthcoming album “Down for the Count,” opened the show.
• Oct. 3, 2002 Andy Griggs performed at the Montagne Center in support of his May 2002 sophomore release, “Freedom.” Opening the show was Brad Paisley, touring in support of his platinum album “Part II,” which featured the number one single “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song).” Also performing was Tommy Shane Steiner.
