Rock legends Kiss and Motley Crue set to arrive in Houston

THE WOODLANDS, Texas — Two bands that defined multiple generations of rock and roll fans have joined forces, once again, for the biggest tour of 2012.

KISS and Motley Crue have joined forces on a more than 40-city trek across the U.S., simply known as “The Tour.” The two legendary acts will make their closest joint appearance to Southeast Texas on Friday, Aug. 3 with a concert at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets for $26 - $126.

KISS and Motley Crue are sharing the stage together for the first time since 1982, when both bands toured the U.S. and devastated the country with their hard rock sounds. Both bands regularly perform to sold-out crowds separately, so the Aug. 3 show in The Woodlands should be off the charts with both bands together in one night.

KISS released a new single on iTunes, “Hell or Hallelujah,” on July 3 which is from the band’s forthcoming studio album, “Monster.” With sales exceeding 100 million units world-wide, the album, which will be the band’s 20th, will feature 12 new songs from Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer.

Motley Crue’s last studio album was the sensational “Saints of Los Angeles” released in 2008, and featuring the single of the same name, which peaked at number four on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The band just released a new song, “Sex,” via its website on July 16.

“What better way to give back to our loyal fans who have been with us for over 3 decades than free ‘Sex’” said Nikki Sixx, Motley Crue bassist, in a press release. “We can’t wait to play the new song every night on ‘The Tour’ this summer.”

KISS and Motley Crue recently announced they would donate $250,000 to the National Chamber Foundation’s “Hiring Our Heroes” program by presenting a check at the tour’s kickoff in Virginia.

According to a press release, the relationship with “Hiring Our Heroes” began when KISS and Mötley Crüe pledged to hire a veteran as a roadie as part of the National Chamber Foundation and Capital One’s “Hiring 500,000 Heroes” campaign. Army veteran and longtime KISS fan Paul Jordan was selected after a review of 1,900 applications received by “Hiring Our Heroes.”

Jordan, who is from Buford, Georgia, served three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. The goal of the initiative is to engage the business community in committing to hire half a million veterans and military spouses by the end of 2014.
