WINNIE, Texas —
Country music star Mel Tillis is coming to Southeast Texas for a concert in the fall of 2013.

Tillis, age 80, is nearly as well known for his speech impediment as he is for his music. However, his music is not to be dismissed.
He first began releasing singles in the 1950s and Tillis released his first album, “Stateside,” in 1966 and his most recent studio album, “You Ain’t Gonna Believe This,” was released in September 2010.
Tillis has released several number one hits during career, including songs “I Ain’t Never,” “Heart Healer,” “Good Woman Blues,” “I Believe in You,” “Coca-Cola Cowboy,” and, his last chart-topper, “Southern Rains” in 1980. Tillis has always had a knack for songwriting and continued to make hit songs for other artists such as Randy Travis and Ricky Skaggs.
Tillis was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry and into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007, which have helped cement his place in country music history.
