BEAUMONT —
Big names, big shows and great music have often made spring break a memorable time for concerts in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana. Below are some of the shows to take place in the region during the week of March 14 - March 20.
• March 14, 2006 Bay area band The Heavenly States performed a concert at The Vortex in Beaumont.
• March 14, 2004 Rock musician and guitarist Pat Travers performed at Islands Bar and Grill in Beaumont.
• March 16, 1979 UFO performed at the Beaumont City Auditorium in support of its June 1978 album, “Obsession,” and its January 1979 double-live album, “Strangers in the Night.” Judas Priest opened the show as the band toured in support of its October 1978 release, “Hell Bent for Leather.”
• March 16, 1968 Legendary British rockers The Who performed two shows in the Beaumont City Auditorium in support of the band’s third album, “The Who Sell Out,” which featured the single “I Can See for Miles.”
• March 17, 2012 Hard rock bands Warrant and Dokken performed at the Delta Downs Event Center in Vinton, La. Warrant was touring in support of its May 2011, release, “Rockaholic,” while Dokken was touring in advance of its soon-to-be-released CD, “Broken Bones.”
• March 17, 2012 The legendary blues musician B.B. King performed at L’Auberge du Lac Casino and Resort in Lake Charles, La.
• March 17, 1981 The Marshall Tucker Band performed at the Beaumont Civic Center in support of its 1981 release, “Dedicated.” Rusty Wier, who served as the opening act, was arrested in his dressing room on drug charges.
• March 18, 2011 The legendary Marshall Tucker Band performed at Nutty Jerry’s in Winnie.
• March 18, 2010 The Eli Young Band performed at Dixie Dancehall in downtown Beaumont in support of its September 2008 release, “Jet Black and Jealous.” Opening the show was Brantley Gilbert, who was touring in support of his new album, “Halfway to Heaven,” released two days prior.
• March 19, 2004 Teen music sensation Hilary Duff performed a sold out concert at Ford Arena in Beaumont.
