This Week in Local Music History (Aug. 2 - Aug. 8)

BEAUMONT — Take a look back at some of the music events which occurred between Aug. 2 through Aug. 8 and have made Southeast Texas one of the greatest places for music in the country.



• Aug. 3, 2008 Country music legend Willie Nelson returned to Southeast Texas for a concert inside the Julie Rogers Theater in downtown Beaumont.



• Aug. 3, 2005 The “Rock the Mic Tour” rolled into Beaumont with a showcase at the Southeast Texas Entertainment Complex featuring performances by Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Fabulous and Sean Paul.



• Aug. 4, 2011 Creedence Clearwater Revisited performed at Nutty Jerry’s in Winnie, Texas.



• Aug. 6, 2006 The band Origin performed an intimate concert at the Vortex in Beaumont.



• Aug. 7, 2004 Maryland rock act Clutch performed a sold-out concert at Antone’s in downtown Beaumont.



• Aug. 7, 1985 L.A. rock band Ratt, touring in support of its sophomore album, “Invasion of Your Privacy,” featuring the singles “Lay It Down” and “You’re In Love,” arrived in Beaumont for a energizing night of glam rock. Opening the show was Bon Jovi, which was touring in support of its album, “7800 degrees Fahrenheit.”



• Aug. 8, 2008 Finnish rock act Apocalyptica performed in front of a standing room only crowd in the last concert ever at Antone’s in downtown Beaumont.
