Take a look back at some of the great live music concerts which have occurred in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana during the week of Jan. 31 through Feb. 6.
• Jan. 31, 2007 The Exies performed at Antone’s on Crockett Street in downtown Beaumont as the group toured in support of its forthcoming May 2007 release, “A Modern Way of Living With the Truth.”
• Jan. 31, 1976 English rock group Foghat arrived in Lake Charles and performed a concert at the Lake Charles Civic Center in support of its September 1975 release, “Fool For the City,” featuring the single of the same name as well as the hit song “Slow Ride.” Main support act was Styx, which was touring in support of its December 1975 release, “Equinox,” featuring the hit single “Lorelei.” Head East opened the show.
• Feb. 1, 2007 Frank Hannon, the guitarist for Tesla, brought the Frank Hannon Band to Antone’s on Crockett Street in Beaumont.
• Feb. 2, 2011 New Jersey metal band Ill Nino arrived in Beaumont for a concert at The Gig as the group toured in support of its October 2010 release, “Dead New World.” Special guests included Anew Revolution, Ekotren and Fashion Bomb.
• Feb. 4, 2009 Kentucky rock outfit Black Stone Cherry returned to Southeast Texas for a showcase at Scout Bar on Crockett Street as the group toured in support of its sophomore CD, “Folklore and Superstition,” which was released in August 2008.
• Feb. 5, 2009 Cross Canadian Ragweed returned to Southeast Texas for a headlining concert at the Dixie Dancehall in Beaumont in support of his October 2007 release, “Mission California.” Special guest act was Micky and the Motorcars.
• Feb. 6, 2009 Radio rock outfit 3 Doors Down returned to Beaumont for a concert at Ford Arena in Beaumont as the band toured in support of its self-titled May 2008 release, which was also the band’s second consecutive album to debut at number one on the Billboard albums chart. Special guests included Seether, Hoobastank and Safety Suit.
• Feb. 6, 1987 Bon Jovi, touring in support of its defining, multi-platinum record “Slippery When Wet,” performed in front of a sell out crowd at the Lake Charles Civic Center. Opening the show was Cinderella, touring behind its smash debut album, “Night Songs.”
• Feb. 6, 1956 Johnny Cash traveled to Southeast Texas to perform at a private event in Port Arthur.
